We recently returned from a road trip and our final stop was in Kansas City. I wanted to end the vacation on a high note and fully enjoy our last bit of travel. While looking for a pet-friendly boutique hotel in Kansas City, I came across The Fontaine Hotel which immediately caught my eye with its stylish design and fantastic location. If you’re looking for unique accommodations in Kansas City, you’ll love this chic spot for business and leisure travelers. The Fontaine provided a complimentary one-night stay so I could review the hotel.
The Fontaine is a Well-Located Boutique Gem in Kansas City
Chic and Contemporary Boutique Vibes
One of the best parts of boutique hotels is that each one has a distinctive style! The Fontaine Hotel Kansas City is full of visual appeal, combining luxury with a modern, hip twist.
The lobby and front desk area is gorgeous, with lofty ceilings, Venetian glass chandeliers, eye-catching art, and plush crushed velvet chairs. There’s a seating space with couches for relaxing or a high-top bar counter overlooking the street for people watching while you read.
There are many great spots to unwind in refined style or get a photo to share on social media!
Other amenities to enjoy are the 24-hour fitness center and Solarium Lounge. For room service, they’ve partnered with the neighboring JAX Fish House & Oyster Bar for mobile ordering and delivery right to your room. They also have an on-site restaurant called The Parker, but it was closed during my stay.
Rooftop Pool at this Kansas City Hotel
Doesn’t a hotel rooftop pool just call out to you? The views from the top are always breathtaking, and you get to swim, lounge, relax, and take in the scenery. I’m a huge fan of rooftop pools.
The Fontaine’s rooftop pool had gorgeous views of the Country Club Plaza area. The heated pool felt fantastic! It was so warm I didn’t even miss having a hot tub. There were plenty of comfy poolside lounge chairs too.
Rooftop Bar
The Fontaine Rooftop Bar is another fun highlight. It’s full service, so you can choose from craft cocktails, mocktails, beers, and appetizers.
The bar itself is indoors with a lounge space, but you can also bring your drinks out onto the patio. My husband got to sip a beer and relax while my teens enjoyed a swim. I loved the panoramic views of Brush Creek and Sunset Hills. Speaking of location, this boutique Kansas City hotel has an ideal spot!
Located in the Heart of Country Club Plaza
Looking for a hotel with easy access to entertainment districts? The Country Club Plaza area of Kansas City is full of excellent shops and restaurants, all within walking distance of The Fontaine. We enjoyed being able to stroll everywhere during our stay and explore Kansas City on foot.
We took an evening walk along the Brush Creek Riverwalk and enjoyed some famous Kansas City BBQ sampler plates at Jack Stack.
For history buffs, check out their Kansas City Exploration Package which includes entry to the National WWI Museum and Memorial, American Jazz Museum and The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. It’s a terrific way to have fun discovering the art, music and history of the city.
Luxurious Guest Rooms
As expected, the guest rooms themselves were also fantastic! The signature ceiling windows are exactly what you anticipate from luxury hotels. Rooms are spacious with comfy beds, work desk, and plush seating. They’re equipped with a mini fridge and Keurig coffee maker. Complimentary wi-fi and cable TV come standard too.
The oversized tiled showers have rainfall showerheads for the ultimate spa experience.
My Review of The Fontaine
I absolutely loved my stay at The Fontaine. However, I’d say it’s better suited for couples and business travelers than families with young kids. I adored the unique, unconventional style and abundance of lovely spaces and modern amenities. It was an ideal family stay for us with teenagers.
