Ingredients & Supplies for DIY Exfoliating Sugar Scrub Body Wash:
- 1 Empty Squeeze Bottle (8-10 oz)
- 1 Cup of Liquid Castile Soap
- 1/4 Cup of Distilled Water
- 2 Tablespoons of Granulated White Sugar
- Young Living Lime, Orange, and Lavender Essential Oils
- 2 Tablespoons of Aloe Vera Juice or Gel (optional but soothing for sensitive skin)
I enjoy making DIY body products because it allows me to know exactly what goes into them. Here’s a simple guide on how to create this body scrub combined with body wash.
This DIY body wash, made with Castile soap, offers all the benefits of natural Castile soap. It’s not only budget-friendly but also eco-friendly and great for your skin.
For this DIY soap recipe, distilled water is the best choice, but if you don’t have any, filtered water works just as well. Even tap water will do the job.
The granulated white sugar is the secret ingredient that transforms this into a DIY body wash scrub. As you apply and rub it on your body, the sugar gently exfoliates, removing dry, dead skin cells. It’s suitable for all skin types.
If you prefer, you can substitute fine-grain sea salt for the sugar. While it adds sea minerals, it’s more abrasive and better suited for oily skin types only.
The essential oils not only impart a delightful tropical scent but also bring antimicrobial and healing properties to this homemade body wash. The citrus essential oils have a fresh and clean aroma that’s quite uplifting. These oils also have antibacterial qualities, making them beneficial for acne-prone skin, especially on the back.
How to Create Natural Exfoliating Body Wash:
Below, you’ll find simple instructions on how to make this body wash.
Begin by gathering all the supplies you’ll need for your exfoliating body wash recipe. Head to your kitchen counter and start with the castile soap and sugar.
Pour 1 cup of Dr. Bronner’s Lavender Soap into your 8-10 oz squeeze bottle. Add 2 tablespoons of sugar to the bottle.
Now, it’s time to introduce your essential oils (*I only use & trust Young Living essential oils for their high quality and purity). Add 10 drops of Lavender, 5 drops of Lime, and 5 drops of Orange. Not only will these essential oils benefit your skin, but they’ll also infuse your homemade body wash with a delightful fragrance.
Finally, add 1/4 cup of distilled water to the mix. Your exfoliating liquid soap is ready to use.
How to Use Your DIY Natural Exfoliating Body Wash:
Before each use, give your homemade body wash scrub a good shake! While using, be sure to apply it in circular motions for that exfoliating effect. This gentle exfoliant helps remove dry, dead skin cells, revealing fresh, rejuvenated skin. It’s suitable for even sensitive skin, but do a patch test if you’re unsure. If you have dull or itchy skin, this body wash can help eliminate dead skin cells and promote a more even skin tone.
Weekly exfoliation can work wonders for smoothing and evening out your skin tone while reducing dry patches. Since this is a gentle exfoliating body wash, I personally find daily use ideal, especially for combating dry, flaky skin. I use it all over my body to shed dead cells and unveil radiant skin. This mild cleanser provides just the right amount of exfoliation. Afterward, I apply a natural moisturizer body lotion to nourish and protect my newly softened skin.
